Concert Details

West Winds was formed in 1993 with the support of the People’s Association and Bukit Batok Community Club. The band was started with the vision to create a place where musicians in Singapore can gather for the love of band music and it has dedicated itself to bringing music to the community.

This October, we are proud to present our annual concert series entitled West Winds In Concert 2015, under the baton of our Music Director, ME5 Philip Tng Liat Peng. The highlights of the concert include Invictus by Philip Sparke, The Last Letter from Murdoch by Masanori Taruya, The Seal Lullaby by Eric Whitacre, as well as well-loved film soundtracks from Jurassic Park and Howl's Moving Castle. West Winds is also proud to feature our Guest Euphonium Soloist, Mark Glover, who will be presenting a euphonium concerto, The Green Hill by Bert Appermont.

West Winds was formed in 1993 with the support of the People’s Association and Bukit Batok Community Club. Led by the their Resident Band Director ME5 Philip Tng, the band was established with the vision to create a place where musicians in Singapore can gather for the love of band music and it has dedicated itself to bringing music to the community.

Back by popular demand, West Winds presents the second instalment of their tribute concert to Japanese master animator and director, Hayao Miyazaki. Combining familiar soundtrack favourites from the previous instalment (Spirited Away, Princess Mononoke and My Neighbour Totoro) with new titles and arrangements (Porco Rosso, Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind and the latest masterpiece, The Wind Rises), this concert will surely transport you to the magical world of Miyazaki.

Don't miss the chance to be enthralled by the artistry of Miyazaki's animations presented on the big screen against their soundtracks performed live by West Winds.
